• WHAT IS IT?
◊ SoundCaser is a quick hack I wrote to take my sounds off the System file under System 7.1. It works pretty much like the old Font/DA Mover but it moves sound resources intead of fonts. In fact, creating a new sound file will create a font suitcase with a custom icon that makes it look like a sound suitcase; moving this suitcase inside System 7.1's Font folder (inside the System folder) will make the Mac believe it's a font suitcase, so it will be opened and all its sounds will be available in the Sound control panel right away. All this could be done manually with ResEdit, but it's a lot easier to do it with SoundCaser.
• VERSION HISTORY:
◊ 1.01 - Ooops! didn't check for System file being opened… The System and any other open files (like sound suitcases in the Font folder) are now opened as read-only.
